There's more to Kevin.

Kevin isn't just a raging anger monster. There's more to him than just hate and rat poop. He's a deep pool of ketchup and we just scratched the surface this week.

We went to California this week, but Fred didn't stop!

Check out the pages from this week. I'm really looking into diving into psychedelic storytelling. I'm exploring some 1960s style art in these pages. Wednesday had an especially weird page.

I keep changing the process, and that's a good thing.

Fred the Mustard Packet Spins a Sign is going on strong on Webtoons.

So, I've changed the process of creating Fred comics again. I love this back and forth of experimentation, especially on this story. In the sign spinning story, I wanted to tell a very psychedelic story, like something that would come out in the 1960s, possibly in a weird issue of ZAP.

This story was outlined with the idea in mind that I would not make it into a commodity, that it would be full of experiments. I don't want to have anyone thinking that I'm ditching quality though. With each page and process, I am bringing the best that I can to it. I love Webtoons and I want each page I put up there to be a celebration.

So, the new process in Fred is to create, lettering, panels, and other technical parts of a comic page in vector. Print the panels with letters twice, thus using two sheets of copy paper. I pencil the page on one of the papers. Then I put it on the light board, place the second sheet on top of the penciled sheet and ink while tracing the best parts of the pencils. No erasing necessary, and I'm getting cleaner scans in for coloring! YEEHAW!!!

I love having multiple ways to attack the work of comic book art. I do plan on doing more purely digital pages as things will get more hippy, trippy.

Thank you for your support.

New Inking Style on the Fred Comics, ToMoCoBo, and TG Geeks!

So, I know that I have made some vector work before. And, I did do a vector/ raster hybrid in the Fred gag cartoon where he's doing stand up. So, I guess it isn't knew. Anyhoo, I've taken to penciling the Fred pages with actual pencil and paper, scanning it into the computer, inking & lettering in vector, and coloring in raster. The ultimate goal of doing this is to bring Fred the line work that I love and doing that with digital tools since it is indeed a webcomic. I see room for improvement in both the way it looks and the speed with which I execute the process. On Wednesday's page, I took more advantage of the vector tools, it won't be what I'm hoping to achieve, but it's a step in the direction that I want to go. Click the below link to see some of the vector inked pages.

http://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/fred-the-mustard-packet/fred-the-mustard-packet-spins-a-sign-page-14/viewer?title_no=64685&episode_no=47

Also, special thanks to TG Geeks for contributing to and for promoting Tommy's Motion Comics Bonanza. By the way, Fred will be in that event. It's Sunday July 9th at 6:30pm at The Torch Theatre in Phoenix, AZ with $5 for admission. That's right, an event for Phoenix, AZ IN JULY! So, there you go, you hard core Phoenicians, we have a summer event for you and the family. We're not waiting for October for this. By the way, you should check out the TG Geeks site. Kevin the Ketchup Packet is Getting a Lot of Page Time These Days

As we have been reading, Kevin the Ketchup Packet is a major part Fred's current story.

Now, I am Fred, through and through. But, I do notice some of my negative emotions that I have had in life manifesting in Kevin. I do not connect with Kevin at such a personal level, I do write him to represent how I see other people. Yet, others are often a reflection of ourselves in some ways. Yes, my stupid comic about condiment packets has me delving deep into my psychological life.

I hope you're enjoying it.

And, we've seen the creation of Misty the Maple Syrup Packet and Brandon the Cloud!

This past week has been Niece Week here in Fred Land.

It's been a Crazy Couple o' Weeks!

Last week, we saw the sweet Auntie Relish again. We also had a lot of weirdness, we decided to bend the universe a bit and it was fun going on a trip down Absurd Lane.

We even had Fred create a "scented" webcomic. There was a contest held for people to photograph themselves actually smelling the comic. Cameron Davison was the only one who had the courage to do it. So, he won. Also, he is a sensational writer. Check out his website at the link below.

http://peasandbananas.com/

This week has been Eyeball Week. Each comic this week has prominently featured eyeballs as a part of the gag. You know, we're back to normal.

Subscribe, read, and enjoy Fred at the link below.

This Week in Fred: Auntie Relish, Arizona Artist a Day, and Bird City Comedy Festival!

Hello Fred-Heads!

This week has been pretty autobiographical.

We had my Auntie Jo's b-day happen this week. Also, I did the open mic and the one-liner joke contest for the Bird City Comedy Festival. And, I'm facing teaching origami in my art classes in the near future.

So, the cartoons reflect all of that. I was honored with another Twitter like from Jamie Kennedy. I guess he likes reading about people bombing on stage. I got all kinds of love from my aunt and cousin for Monday's cartoon. And, I have a strange feeling of satisfaction in myself when I read today's cartoon mockery of myself.

Oh, and this past Thursday (yesterday), I was featured on the Arizona Artist a Day Blog by Shelley Whiting. It was a great honor and it was fun seeing Fred featured on such a classy blog.

Here are the links:

We've featured Fred in some Dr. Zombie Themed Cartoons- Why?

Check out the cartoons at the below links...

http://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/fred-the-mustard-packet/fred-makes-his-3rd-attempt-at-hosting-a-monster-movie-show/viewer?title_no=64685&episode_no=17

This week on Webtoons.com we featured a week's worth of Fred the Mustard Packet's comics to the theme of the might monster movie show host.

My Dr. Zombie character was first created to serve that purpose. In 2009, I noticed that Phoenix had a hole in the entertainment market. There were no active monster movie hosts. So, the wonderful folks at the Trunk Space indulged me in filling that hole.

Dr. Zombie was born October 31, 2009 at the old Trunk Space with a hilarious screening of Plan 9 From Outer Space. Many more monster movie screenings occurred with Dr. Zombie at the Trunk Space and other fine venues. We had costume contests, acting contests, pumpkin carving contests, and sensational musical guests like The Slow Poisoner and Space-Alien Donald. In 2011, Dr. Zombie even got one of those Best of Phoenix Awards from The Phoenix New Times for Best Horror Movie Show.

Come on, local Phoenix TV! You could've had me! I would have brought in about a dozen viewers every week! That's money in the bank.

Then, in 2012, another person came in to help fill the monster movie host void. And... well... he did a better job than me, and continues to do so. One of my good friends was bitter for me, but I'm actually not. The man who does the monster movie hosting now loves it more than I ever did. He is film through and though, 100%.

However, I'm many things, comic books, puppets, improv shows, stand up comedy, etc. I've managed to bring Dr. Zombie and his sci-fi/ horror antics into multiple outlets.

In October of 2016 we did do one last film screening, we did it in a Super Saver Cinema. It was perfect. Thanks to everyone who attended that show.

Remember, Dr. Zombie isn't gone. He's just undead, and he's doing monstrous loads of other things! In fact, to support him, you can buy his Kindle Comic Book and his card game right now. Join in the fun!

Below is the link to the card game...

Man, Tommy, what's with all of these baseball jokes.

http://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/fred-the-mustard-packet/fred-the-mustard-packet-at-the-ball-park/viewer?title_no=64685&episode_no=14

I'm not much of a sports guy. It's true. I'm not against sports, I'm normally not interested in them. However, I do like baseball. While I was in my teens, twenties, and a piece of my early thirties, I was into hockey. When I went to U of A, I loved attending the few Ice Cats games that I was able to get to. In the NHL, I was primarily a fan of the Coyotes and the Devils.

But, then I got a good look into baseball. Arizona finally got it's own MLB team around 1997, the Diamondbacks. And, their uniforms were purple! PURPLE! (It's my favorite color) Five years later, they won the world series. However, it was many years later, when my family attended an opening day D-Backs game to celebrate my dad's birthday. That's when I really became a fan. I don't know why it all hit my senses the right way at the right time, but it did. I had attended sports games of numerous types at numerous levels before, but that experience just filled me with joy. The colors, the weird music, the scoreboard animations, the food, the lemonade, the merch, the overall branding, the sound of the announcer's voice, the sight of families being happy together, people celebrating. "This is art, this is theatre", I thought. And, I was right. It's entertainment.

That season or the season after, my dad bought a giant package of tickets. I, and many friends and family got to attend numerous D-Backs games. Win or lose, it was always a fun party. Baseball is relaxed, unlike hockey. I'm more relaxed than I was in my youth, go figure. So, I appreciate a sport where I can get up, buy a churro, and not miss much.

I know that the D-Backs aren't much to speak of these days, but the spectacle of it all is a grand display of athleticism, design, organ music, and artery clogging snacks.

Baseball, it's my game of choice.

Thanks for reading,

Tommy

PS- The NY Yankees and Mets are cool too.

Fred in my most auto-biographical comic yet!

http://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/fred-the-mustard-packet/harriet-and-fred-shop-for-greeting-cards/viewer?title_no=64685&episode_no=13

Sorry Miouo! I'm not sure Naver (the company that owns Webtoons) would like the creators placing the fully finished comics on our blogs. Some do, and people even pirate the comics, but since I'm in their funhouse, I want to give them their due respect. So, since they have us make thumbnails, I'll put them to use here.

And, I will use this blog to go into depth on the comics. As stupid as Fred can be, there are reasons why I write the things that I write.

OOps! I forgot to color the area near Fred's thumb! Check out the comic and my doofus mistake. The link is up top.

Now, in real life, my wonderful wife LOVES shopping for greeting cards. It's adorable, she has a filing system and a list of up-coming birthdays, holidays and events. My family is more goofball than hers, so she sends me down the aisles with the more crass cards when we go shopping. She always choses sweet, tastefully designed cards for her family. She has fond memories of shopping at Hallmark with her mother when she was a little one. It's so cute, she has the Hallmark frequent shopper membership thingy.

That's the balance of life. She's sweet and I'm a goofball, somehow our life circles meet in a Venn Diagram.

I love her, she's wonderful. And, I love jokes involving butts.

Fred the Mustard Packet Gets His Wisdom Teeth Extracted

https://www.patreon.com/posts/7735341

Check out the above link to my Patreon post to see the comic.

zZZZoh man, I just had my wisdom teeth removed. And, it was a rough week of pain as I recovered from it.

My wonderful wife, Michelle, kept me on a well crafted schedule of pain meds and constantly helped me for the whole week.

And, she herself deals with chronic pain everyday!!!

My love and respect go to her, my mom, and Auntie Jo. They are at a constant disadvantage in this world. I dealt with it for only a weak and only in my face. I can't imagine what these strong women must go through. I am lucky to be a part of their lives. In spite of their dark pain, they manage to light up my world in wonderful ways every single day.

I hope that the scientists of the world will relieve their suffering. All, I can do for them is make them laugh. Cheers to all of those doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and chemists who trying to sort this stuff out. Be well, my friends.
